Home Based Childcare

Home based care is the fastest growing childcare type in New Zealand, it is widely recognised overseas to have early childhood education with one or two stable carers in a nurturing environment, this style of care is a great benefit to child development.

Children do best when they feel comfortable in their environment. Selwyn Toddlers strives to have the best Educator for your child in homes where learning is nurtured and encouraged with daily acivities.

Children are taken on regular outings and playgroups. These assist learning about the world around us and normal daily life skills not always available to children in a daycare environment.

We have Educators available who have passed regulatory checks by our Network. All Educators have current First Aid Certificates, have completed Module One of the Family Day Care Certificate, passed a Police Check and their homes have been checked for safety and quality for childcare. All our Educators are experienced Parents, Grandparents or from Early Childcare Centres.

Each Educator has no more than four children in their care under the age of 5 years. The bond that children form with their Educator is close and strong and it is strongly recognised by child specialists this is best for preschool childrens' confidence and wellbeing and therefore brain development for the future.

All Educators are visited by our Co-ordinator (Registered Early Childhood Teacher) at least once a month. Our Co-ordinator ensures the upkeep of standards and helps our Educators to provide programmes specifically tailored to your child.
