About Selwyn Toddlers

Selwyn Toddlers began in June 2008 to provide childcare for those in rural areas of the Selwyn District.

We found parents in the areas of Rolleston, Lincoln, Leeston and the surrounds were showing a need for quality childcare for their children.

Selwyn Toddlers offers them a childcare option where they do not have to put their children into large impersonal groups. Also many of these parents were finding travelling to an available preschool was either not affordable or inconvenient.

Selwyn Toddlers chose to set up a home based childcare network because as parents ourselves we feel a home environment where the child has a relationship with one Educator is the best type of childcare for preschool children.

Our Educators are often parents looking for a new career which can involve their children. We have Educators who are grandparents wanting the flexibility to care for their grandchildren. And we also have Registered Teachers who prefer and believe in home based care.

From the base of home based care came the enquiries from Families for Aferschool and School Holiday care for sibblings. Very soon we felt the need to offer this service. In June 2009 we opened Rolleston Drive as a before and Afters school service to Rolleston, Weedons, Springston and Burnham schools. In 2010 this will include Clearview and Templeton. Licensed to take 30 children aged 5 to 14.

School Holiday Programs are now provided and and parents who qualify with Work and Income can get subsidies for all aged children with Selwyn Toddlers network.

Selwyn Toddlers Network Limited (Regulations)

Selwyn Toddlers Network is funded with the help of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Development and adhere to the regulations set out by Child Youth and Family and the Ministy of Education.

Selwyn Toddlers has a Charter of Operations, Code of Conduct, and a regulatory check of all Educators and staff working within the network to ensure only the best quality for all of our families. All staff are First Aid Qualified and Police Vetted.

Selwyn Toddlers is locally owned and operated and all services used by the network are chosen locally first.

Selwyn Toddlers is fast becoming the Biggest Childcare provider in the Selwyn District, this means parents are getting more choice of carers and our waiting list for both children and educators is kept minimal.

I am very proud to be able to offer this service to families and Educators, for the benefit of our greatest treasures (our children).
